Bored at home? Spark up your palette with a Chu-Hi!
Chu-Hi, abbreviated for Shochu Highball, is a very popular beverage in Japan. Chu-His are composed of shochu, which is made from sweet potato, barley or rice.
Soju, the popular alcoholic beverage from Korea, has similar characteristics in terms of the ingredients and alcohol percentage. Both usually contain about 20-25% but since Chu-His are mixed drinks, they contain 5-9%, making it a refreshing, easy-to-consume drink.
It comes in various flavors like grapefruit, lemon, peach, white grape, and many more. You can find these at select Japanese markets such as Mitsuwa, Nijiya Market, Marukai and Tokyo Central. Some other Asian markets like H Mart or 99 Ranch Market may carry them as well.
As summer approaches, these Chu-His will surely keep you refreshed with a nice buzz!
