Do you have a bunch of magazines or books laying around the house? Build this simple rack for storage.
This X-Shaped Magazine Rack is a quick and easy DIY project that can be done with some scrap pieces of wood and a saw. This does not require any power tools although it would be faster with a jigsaw. I decided to use a hand saw for some good ole fashion elbow grease!
Here is a list of the basic materials needed to complete the rack. Don’t worry if you don’t have some of these. Amazon and Home Depot will surely have these available.
- 2 Pieces of Wood (same size)
- Saw (hand or jigsaw)
- Sand Paper
- Measuring Tape
- Varnish (optional)
First, measure the height and width of the wood. Once you have the measurements, with a pencil, mark a one-inch gap in the center of the wood pieces. Once you make the marks, start to saw the wood, making interlock cut-outs so both of the wood pieces fit snug. To make it stand out even more, you can apply wood varnish for a vintage aesthetic.
